Finding a Retirement Home

by

Cara Larose

There comes a time when your elders can t take care of themselves properly anymore and you don t have the appropriate resources to completely satisfy their needs and make them feel comfortable. For times like this, maybe it s a good idea to put them in a retirement home where they can be properly looked after and be in the company of like-minded people.

Places that specialize in the care for elders are called retirement home care. Places like this provide the needed care for the elderly when they aren t able to adequately take care of themselves. Seniors require special attention when it comes to their meals, medical care, living habits, and other daily habits.

In finding the ideal retirement home, you should first gauge the requirements of your loved one and find out the services offered to make them live comfortably. If an elder needs special medical assistance, then look for a home that offers this service. Find homes that aid people with weakening abilities. This way, you ll feel pretty confident that the people you love are properly looked after.

Location is also something essential to consider. It s important that a

is located conveniently near your home or major highways so visiting your elders won t be a chore. Look for a community with a convenient distance to shopping malls, parks, hospitals, and other services that can be needed in the future.

Try to visit the

that you re interested in before spending any money. Check the conditions of its occupants. You ll feel pretty confident if you see the residents are happy, content, and in good condition. Also try to talk with residents and staff there to give you an idea on the lifestyle and services inside the home. Check the conditions of the amenities. Try to see if the activities are up to par with your standards and needs.

Lastly, think of the cost involved. It s pointless to think about the services offered if you don t have any money. Set your budget and compare the different costs of other retirement homes you have in mind. With the benefit

Sir Edward Heath, former British PM, dies at 89

Sunday, July 17, 2005

Sir Edward Heath, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1970-1974 and leader of the Conservative Party from 1965-1975, has died at his home in Salisbury just a week after his 89th birthday.

Heath implemented the decimalization of the British coinage, led the United Kingdom into the European Economic Community, attempted to end industrial unrest with the Industrial Relations Act, initiated a failed power-sharing government in Northern Ireland, and, in order to cope with a coal strike on top of the 1973 fuel crisis, instituted a three-day work week in the UK.

Today he was eulogised by fellow politicians, including Baroness Margaret Thatcher, who succeeded Heath after he was ousted from the Conservative Party leadership in 1975. She said that with Heath’s death Britain had lost a ‘political giant’. There was also praise, from Heath’s former political secretary Sir Douglas Hurd, for his contribution to the EEC.

‘He got us into the European Union,’ Sir Hurd said. ‘I mean that is a huge step, a very difficult one, which I doubt would have happened without his particular kind of thoroughness and determination. That was an amazing achievement.’[1]

Prime Minister Tony Blair issued a statement describing Sir Heath as ‘a man of great integrity and beliefs’.

Heath was offered the post of Ambassador to the United States in 1979, but declined. He continued to represent the constituency of Old Bexley and Sidcup as a backbench MP until his retirement in 2001. He was created a Knight of the Garter in 1992.

Indian cricketer Sehwag announces international retirement

Wednesday, October 21, 2015

Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag yesterday announced his retirement from international cricket matches and the next Indian Premier League season. Opener Sehwag played his last test match in March 2013 against Australia. He scored 8,586 runs, including 23 centuries, in 104 test matches, with a batting average of 49.34.

Sehwag, who turned 37 yesterday, said on Twitter “I hereby retire from all forms of international cricket and from the Indian Premier League. A statement will follow.” He stated he has not retired from first-class cricket matches, and he is also scheduled to appear in the Masters Champions League in February 2016.

Also known as the Nawab of Najafgarh, Sehwag is the only Indian cricketer to score a triple century in test matches, making 309 runs against Pakistan in 2004 and 319 against South Africa in 2008.

Sehwag stated, “I have always done what I felt was right and not what conformists thought to be right […] God has been kind and I have done what I wanted to do, on the field and in my life, and I had decided some time back that I will retire on my 37th birthday.”

Fellow Indian cricketers praised Sehwag when news of his retirement broke. Sachin Tendulkar referred to Sehwag’s “tremendous achievements” and “superlative performances”, V. V. S. Laxman called him “a pure entertainer”, and Ajinkya Rahane described him as “an inspiration to billions of cricket fans across the world.”

English Football: Manchester United clinch Premier League title

Sunday, May 17, 2009

Manchester United needed just one point to clinch the Premier League title Saturday and a 0–0 draw with Arsenal gave them that point.

The title is United’s 18th league title and 11th since the Premier League formed in 1992. The title is also United’s third consecutive and marked the first time since the 1998–99 Treble winning season United clinched in front of a home crowd.

Both sides remained scoreless through 90 minutes, and with the draw, second-place Liverpool‘s hopes of the title were dashed. As the table currently stands, United have earned 87 points, while Liverpool have earned 80, with six being the maximum they can earn.

With two games remaining for both Liverpool and third-place Chelsea, both the second and third places are open, while Arsenal has locked up the fourth place spot.

Both sides had great chances, with the last coming to Arsenal captain Cesc Fàbregas, whose shot with three minutes to go banged off the crossbar.

United began the game on offense had a solid score chance inside of the first minute, but Darren Fletcher could not connect with Cristiano Ronaldo. Wayne Rooney also had a great chance in the first-half, while United’s best chance of the second-half came on free kick from Ronaldo.

Arsenal pressed throughout most of the game, but solid defending by John O’Shea, Jonny Evans and Nemanja Vidi? stopped several Arsenal chances and United keeper Edwin van der Sar collected the rest.

United gave Arsenal keeper ?ukasz Fabia?ski little to do and Ronaldo’s second-half free kick had Fabia?ski beat, but the ball travelled just wide.

Arsenal finishes up their season on May 24 with a game home against Stoke City. Manchester United finishes up their season away to Hull City on May 24.

Bad Credit Lenders How To Bag A Bad Credit Personal Loan In 5 Steps

By Marie-Claire Smith

If you are like most people, when you think of bad credit lenders, the image that comes to mind is a loan shark-type character. You may think of shady backroom deals, hushed voices, and a big guy in the back who carries a club meant for those who fail to repay their loans on time.

While such underworld-type loan services no doubt still exist, the vast majority of bad credit personal lending companies these days are completely legitimate. They have honest dealings with their customers, they pay their federal taxes accurately and on time, and they stick by their word. In short, they are stand-up businesspeople just trying to make a living like everybody else.

Fortunately, these days finding a bad credit personal lender does not involve meeting someone at the dark table in the back of the pool hall and being forced to pay 300% interest on a loan. Instead, you can find a number of upstanding personal loan lending companies in most mid-size towns and large cities alike. You can also find them online.

In fact, there are so many personal loan lenders out there today that your biggest challenge will not be in finding an honest one, but rather in finding the one that will give you the best deal.

Bad credit lenders specialize in working with folks who may not have a perfect credit history. This poor credit history is usually reflected in the borrower’s low credit, or FICO, score. However, these special personal loan lenders know how to work with people who have a low FICO score. They do this by reviewing other key details of that person’s credit history, then making a decision based on items other than just the score.

If you need a loan but are concerned about getting approved given your credit score, here is how to bag your own bad credit personal loan in 5 steps:

1. Figure out who the players are. After 20 minutes of Internet research or a quick drive around town, you should easily be able to build yourself a list of personal loan lenders who are ready to wheel and deal with you. Skip over any lenders who seem shady or who do not have an established business history.

2. Become familiar with your own credit history. This means having a look at your own credit reports. Prepare yourself for the kinds of questions you may be asked – and have some answers ready. For example, you may be asked about why you didn’t complete payments on that auto loan, or why you missed 3 months of your utility bill. Have honest, but well-thought-out, answers ready.

3. Play the lenders against each other. Once you are ready to take out a loan for $500, $1,000 or more, start applying to at least 4-5 bad credit personal lenders. Each lender is going to offer you a slightly different interest rate. You may find that one lender could save you hundreds of dollars in lower interest payments. If you get two similar loan offers, tell the one with the higher rate that you have a better offer in hand, and see if they’ll beat it.

4. Experiment with different loan amounts. For example, let’s say you apply for a loan of $2,000 but your application gets rejected or you don’t get approved for the interest rate you wanted. In that case, go back and ask for $1,500. See what works.

5. Finally, read the terms and conditions of every loan offer that comes across your desk. For example, you may not want to agree to any offers that require you to pay an early termination fee or other hidden fees. Ask the lender for a statement showing the total cost of the would-be loan, including all fees and interest.

Take these 5 steps to bag your bad credit personal loan faster than you had thought possible.
