I’m not quite understanding why liberals think that this is such a good thing, except the liberals that own stock in insurance companies. One thing I know is that car insurance, which anyone who drives is required to have, is too expensive, especially if you’re young because they automatically assume that young people are going to be reckless. Now, with the individual mandate, I expect that health insurance companies will jack prices up knowing that people have to have it, and they’ll probably do the same thing the car insurance companies do; they’ll charge more for young people because they’re supposedly reckless, they’ll charge more for people with preexisting conditions, they’ll jack your premiums up if you ever go to the hospital, etc. How is this supposed to help the poor? Also consider the fact that there are a lot of people that will not take government aide, look at all the homeless people that are homeless because they refuse to go on welfare. How will taxing them for not having insurance help them?

No opinions yet?

I find it sad and funny that Obama spoke of how this is a lovely plan to help people and make sure noone is uninsured in times of need and yet the part that was cut was the one that would’ve extended Medicaid benefits to the people at the bottom of the income scale.

And my bet is that was Robert’s attempt to throw a bone to the right-wing to make them somewhat.

Illinois high schools now required to buy insurance for athletes

Tuesday, August 6, 2013

This past Sunday, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed into law a bill known as “Rocky’s Law” that requires Illinois high schools, through the local school district, to buy catastrophic injury insurance up to US$3 million or medical costs for up to five years, whichever one comes first, that covers student athletes. The insurance must cover student athletes while they are competing.

The legislation was named after Rasul “Rocky” Clark. In 2000, the Eisenhower High School football player became paralyzed from the waist down as a result of a tackle during a game. His school based health insurance covered the costs of his medical treatment. A legislator sponsoring the bill noted that the need for this type of insurance is rare. Clark’s mother attended the legislation signing. Her son died last year.

Before parents can claim money from school insurance, they first must pay out US$50,000. Schools have until January 1, 2014 to comply with the law. Schools cannot charge students more than US$5 to defray the cost of insurance. If a school district already requires student to be covered through private health insurance, they are exempted from this law.

Nj Facial Plastic Surgeon Shares The Importance Of Accreditation

NJ Facial Plastic Surgeon Shares the Importance of Accreditation

by

Dr. Andrew J. Miller

EDISON, NEW JERSEY – When researching plastic surgeons, patients will often find that some surgeons perform surgery in their office, while others perform surgery in the hospital. When opting for an in-office surgery center, it is important to ensure the facility is fully accredited.

\\”Many assume that if a surgeon offers to do their procedure in their office surgery center, that it has some level of oversight and accountability, but that is not always true,\\” said

NJ facial plastic surgeon

Dr. Andrew Miller. \\”For a surgeon to be able to offer in-house surgery, their facility must be accredited or certified, and obtaining that is no simple task.\\”

A fully accredited facility is one that has meet strict national standards for equipment, operating room safety and personnel and surgeon credentials.

Ambulatory Surgical Center

That particular facility is one with a medical staff of one or more physicians that have permanent facilities equipped and operated for the purpose of performing surgery. These facilities offer patients around the clock services from physicians and nurses during surgical procedures until the patients has recovered from the effects of anesthetics and all other times while the patient is in the center. The center does not offer these services or accommodations for patients who need to stay longer than 24 hours.

The importance of an accredited facility

Accredited outpatient surgery centers, also known as ambulatory centers same day surgery centers, are recognized for their safety. In general they have:

  • Low rate of surgical complications (less than half of 1 percent)
  • Low death rate (less than one in 57,000)
  • Benefit of lower cost for patients

As of July 2009, the state of New York began to require doctor\\’s offices that carry out surgery under moderate or deep sedation have their centers inspected and accredited by independent organizations.

\\”Becoming accredited is an expensive undertaking, but we decided to become accredited before it became a law because the advantages clearly outweighed the disadvantages,\\” said Miller, whose partners offer breast enlargement and

male breast reduction

surgery. \\”We understand that some patients may not know what being an accredited facility means, but for those that do, they have a great sense of confidence when choosing us for their surgery.\\”

Patients who choose an accredited ambulatory center will experience the following advantages:

  • Surgery is performed by a physician with whom the patient has built a relationship with, which guarantees them quality and personalized care
  • The process of admittance and discharge is simplified
  • Flexible schedule when booking procedures
  • While the patient is in surgery, their loved ones can relax in an informal, private environment

The following organizations offer accreditation:

  • Accreditation for Ambulatory Health Care
  • Medicare
  • Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations
  • Accreditation for Ambulatory Surgery Centers

\\”Becoming certified, especially by Medicare, is a time consuming, intense and expensive process, but with all three of our facilities accredited, we feel are patients are more comfortable in our center than they would be in a hospital,\\” said the Juvederm provider.

Factors To Consider When Hiring Seo Consultancy

Submitted by: Jeremy Yeomann

If you are serious about building a website, then you definitely have to know the relevance of search engine optimisation. A number of individuals have the incorrect belief that the any they need to do is register a domain name, obtain some hosting, put up a website, and people will flock to it. To get people to your own website requires knowledge and action. The problem is that a large number of people just don’t have that kind of specialized information. They will get extremely frustrated simply because no one is going to their website. Sadly, if no one visits your web site, it is practically dead. You can’t create income from a website that doesn’t get any traffic, regardless of how well-designed it is. One extremely suggested option you are able to make as a webmaster is to appoint a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) consultant to help you.

What is a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Specialist and Exactly How Can One Assist you?

“SEO” stands for search engine optimisation. This term refers to building a web site that consists of particular characteristics that will help search engines like Google locate it. However it goes a step further – Correct search engine optimisation also means that your web site will rank high within the search engine results. Consultants that handle SEO are experts at obtaining your own web site ranked on the first page with the search engine results. This really is where the action happens. For any given keyword phrase that a person is looking up a search engine, more than 95 percent of the time that person will click on one of the listings on the first page of results. For this reason getting a leading ten listing within the search engine results is so crucial.

These types of businesses have inventive, expert marketers who make a living at getting websites towards the first page of the search engine listings.

Some Points to Consider When Hiring a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Professionals:

1. Exactly how long have they will been in company? The web is continuously changing. Search Engine Optimisation methods that worked 6 months ago might not be as impressive now. You want to deal with experts that have been in business for at least 12 months.

2. Do they have a winning track record? Constructive feedback from previous clients will be the tell-tale sign of an company that understands what they are doing.

3. Do they guarantee their results? An online marketing professional that is confident with their SEO services will boldly claim a strong guarantee.

4. Exactly what other solutions do these people provide? A good IM agency will be able to provide a number of associated services that might potentially benefit you. Even if it’s giving advice on PPC, web style and design, or article marketing, the better agencies will be able to help you in multiple ways. Google launches online payment service

Thursday, June 29, 2006

Google has today launched its foray into the world online payment processing with Google Checkout. This is considered by many to be a rival to the payment giant PayPal, owned by eBay. This service is currently only available to U.S. residents.

Google has created the service in a similar way to PayPal. There are two types of Google Checkout account, Buyer and Seller. Only a Seller account can receive payments through the service, a Buyer account can only make payments. This is tied in very closely with the Google Adwords service — adverts selling items can now display a small shopping cart icon — which indicates that the advertiser accepts Google Checkout as a method of payment.

The selling rate is also closely tied in with the Google AdWords service. Other online payment services generally charge a set percentage per transaction, whereas Google Checkout credits you with a certain amount of “free transactions” when you purchase Google AdWords (For every US $1 spent on AdWords, US $10 in sales can be processed at no charge) — or a rate of 2% plus US $0.20 if the Seller is not a Google Adwords subscriber. There are no charges associated with Buyer Accounts.

Currently, Google Checkout only accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover Credit Cards for inclusion on a buyer’s or seller’s account. They also offer a special deal for users of a Citicard credit card — US $5 (or 1000 ThankYousm Points) for signing up. Google has announced its’ intentions to “to make the service available to merchants internationally” in the near future.

New search engine to search inside Wikipedia

Thursday, January 18, 2007

A new search engine that was announced yesterday finds articles and links within the English Wikipedia. Wikiseek, run by a California based startup company called “searchme”, is a website which aims to be “A better way to search Wikipedia.”

Although most keywords work without problems, Digg users have found search terms that the site does not recognize. If you enter “Chicago” for example, it shows no Wikipedia articles at all, and clicking “Chicago, Illinois” leads to an article on West Chicago, Illinois and other related articles to the subject. Similarly, entering “Christmas”, “United States” or “PlayStation 3” only provides links to related articles on Wikipedia, although they are in the top 10 of most viewed articles in the English Wikipedia. Searching “porn” comes up with commercial websites linked from Wikipedia, but not the relevant articles in the free encyclopedia. For most articles however, the relevant Wikipedia article is the first result or among the results.

The site says that “The contents of Wikiseek are restricted to Wikipedia pages and only those sites which are referenced within Wikipedia, making it an authoritative source of information less subject to spam and SEO schemes.” The site also offers a Toolbar plugin and a Firefox extension to add a Wikiseek search button inside of Wikipedia pages.

Danny Sullivan at the Search Engine Land blog found Wikiseek’s results inferior compared to the results from established search engines. SearchMe CEO Randy Adams stressed that Wikiseek is still in a beta phase. He pointed out that they welcome feedback more than the average search engine, which can be posted on their company wiki.

Searchme put a button on their main page, encouraging beta testers to instantly promote the site on Digg. In August 2006, Digg had half a million registered users.

Some media outlets have reported that Wikiseek was created by either the Wikimedia Foundation which runs Wikipedia, or private corporation Wikia, which hosts a collection of wiki communities. Both rumors are untrue, says Angela Beesley, co-founder of Wikia and chair of the Advisory Board of the Wikimedia Foundation. “Wikiseek is an independent project with no affiliation with either Wikia or the Wikimedia Foundation.”

The Wikiseek site says they contribute the majority of its revenue from advertisement to the Wikimedia Foundation’s fundraising effort.

Microsoft buys online ad firm Aquantive for $6 billion

Friday, May 18, 2007

Microsoft have today paid $6 billion (£3 billion) for the online marketing firm Aquantive. The takeover will pave the way for Microsoft to expand into the $40 billion online advertising market currently dominated by Google and Yahoo!.

Kevin Johnson, the head of Microsoft’s platforms and services division, said “This deal takes our advertising business to a new level” and follows the recent acquisitions by Google and Yahoo who bought DoubleClick for $3.1 billion, and the remaining 80% of Right Media Exchange for $680 million respectively.

Aquantive will remain at its base in Seattle with its current staff of around 2.600, but will work as part of Microsoft’s online operations.

The deal is expected to be completed by early 2008, subject to regulation.
