Antique cars and classic cars collecting, restoring, and showing have become the number one pass time for many classic car enthusiasts. Whether you’re new to antique cars as a hobby, or a seasoned collector, the internet has information on classic cars, car parts, accessories, car shows and antique car sales, and more.

The first antique automobile was made in 1672 by a Chinese monk, and was steam powered. Then, around 1769, The Cugnot Steam Trolley was capable of transporting humans was produced. Other steam engine cars followed. By today s standards, the steam car would be considered a green alternative to modern gas guzzlers. New hybrid cars still don’t operate on nothing but steam power like the steam trolley did over two hundred years ago.

It wasn’t until 1806 that the first car with an internal combustible engine appeared. The internal combustible engine cars began to hook us all on vehicles that were powered with the use of gas and oil. In 1885, a more modern version of the internal combustible engine car was introduced. Even electric cars were designed very early in the twentieth century, but faded out in favor of gas powered vehicles. The Ford Museum, in Detroit, MI. still has a running, working model of Ford’s first electric motor on display. Antique Ford cars are highly collectible and well known in classic car circles.

There are several eras of collectible automobile history. Each era has a specific term to define the particular types of classic cars made during those time frames. Knowing certain antique car terms can help you to decide which antique car era you want to focus on as an antique car collector or restorer.

Classic cars from the 1890’s and earlier are termed “Veteran Era” antique autos. From around the 1900’s to 19190, those classic cars are generally referred to as the “Brass”, or “Edwardian” era collector cars. A very popular area for antique car collectors is the “Vintage” 1920’s era classics. Through the 1930’s to the 1950’s, there are “Pre-war” era classic cars. 1950’s through 1970’s are termed: “Post-war” classic or antique cars.

Cars that are twenty years old or older are generally referred to as “antique” cars. Another classic and collector car term you will hear is the term: “muscle cars”; which generally refer to sports cars made between the 1960’s to 1980’s. Whatever your classic antique car interest may be, the internet gives all the information, history, and antique car sales.

Antique Car collecting and restoration is a hobby practiced by people all over the world. Even American celebrities fall in love with them. Jay Leno, in addition to hosting the Tonight Show, is known for his huge collection of antique cars and motorcycles going all the way back to the early 20th century. Past stars known for their love of cars are Larry Hagman and Steve McQueen.

One of the reasons people love antique cars is that, for them, it brings back childhood or teenage memories. Maybe they had their first date in that car, or that is the car the family when on annual picnics, or maybe it was the car to have when they were young but they couldn’t afford it. The nostalgia market is worth billions of dollars and those longing for the antique autos of their youth account for only a small piece of it.

By William Jake Fischer

Finding or even selling a home or a building can be a tough especially in cases when there are a lot of variables and elements that come into play. This includes the price of the home, the quality of the home and the look and other similar things.

There are a lot of great real estate companies, agencies and even agents that have been highly praised by other happy and satisfied customers who have either found their dream home or sold their old home to move to a new location and start a new life in a new place.

While there are a lot of “horror stories” relating to agents and selling or buying homes. It would be better to prepare yourself with some detail and information about the agency or the agent. It is also important to arm yourself with the right etiquette when dealing yourself with real estate agents.

Here are several tips regarding the etiquette you should have with you during meetings and talks with these agents.

1. Always Carry a Smile – Always smile and be courteous when talking to your agent. Being pleasant to work with is a great thing and will help move things smoothly and quickly. Also, smiling at your estate agent will also help you in establishing the much sought after “rapport” between the two.

2. Avoid Being Rude – Being rude is something that is a big no-no especially in dealing with these companies and agents. Also, a buyer or a seller should remember that the agent or the real estate company is not your servants nor are they your secretary. You should just remember that they are still people and they deserve more than getting snubbed or getting some sass or some bad attitude.

3. Be Hospitable – when talking to these agents, always try to accommodate them. While not standard practice, it’s a nice show of being compassionate or being kind if you can offer coffee or anything to drink for your agent especially when they pay you a visit to discuss important matters regarding the home.

4. Stick with the same agent or company – The proper thing to do and the most important aspect of etiquette when dealing with real estate agents and real estate companies is to stick with one. That is why it is important pick carefully before you even begin talks. You should have picked the right real estate investor or agent so that you do not have to change agents in between the selling or buying a house. As the old saying go, it is most unwise to change horses’ mid-stream. If you have found the right real estate agent then go and deal accordingly.

If possible, try to screen the real estate agent that can help you out in getting your home sold or bought. Screening the right real estate agent will also help you in finding out if the agent or the person should work well with you can jibe with him or her when you have already started going down the road into marketing your home.

Otahuna is an ideal stopping off point on your way to the Southern Alps, or the best place to stay to visit Christchurch and not be in the hustle and bustle of a city.

If you get the right time of the year then Otahuna is famous for its display of 20,000 golden daffodils in the springtime.

The accommodation consists of five suites and two master suites, and although containing all the facilities one would expect from a world class hotel each suite still retains features from the lodge s 19th century origins, such as fireplaces, and stained glass windows. By the way, the beds are super king size, and there is a separate deep bathtub and rain shower. If you can, book the incredibly huge Master Suite called the Rhodes Suite with the most amazing views across acres of rolling lawns.

Apart from anything else Otahuna is one of New Zealand s best kept secrets, it was built in 1895 for Sir Heaton Rhodes and his original three storey homestead has been restored with great care, returning it to its former grandeur whilst building in the kind of facilities you would expect to find in a world class luxury lodge.

Whilst staying at Otahuna Lodge , and depending on the time of year you will be able to go fishing , play gold nearby, and New Zealand s golf courses never seem to be crowded at all. There is some wonderful hiking trails, you can go horse riding, play tennis, even go whale watching. In the winter the ski slopes are not so far away, and of course there are the New Zealand wines to explore and drink.

A very important part of your time at this luxury lodge called Otahuna is eating and drinking, because the restaurant has quality written all over it. Drinks and the five course dinner are normally included in the tariff and you will discover that the chefs use of local fresh produce will give you one of the finest dining experiences of your life.

Out in the garden tucked away amongst the trees is the Otahuna Day Spa, in what used to be the laundry. Here you will get personal pampering with style as many of the original fittings are still present.

Pampering is really what Otahuna is all about. From the moment you first check availability, you will be in no doubt you are dealing with a top class luxury lodge, and you just know it will be one of the high spots of your New Zealand Vacation.

You will be pampered from the moment you arrive until you leave, in fact Otahuna will make you feel like Royalty.
